Community interest company RESOLVEit, which was founded by mother of four Diane Briere de l’Isle, has taken over Crucial Crew, whose safety events last year educated more than 15,000 young people on personal safety.
Working with many different organisations, agencies, charities and local authorities, Crucial Crew workshops use interactive scenarios to help young people become more aware of personal safety, learn how to react to dangerous situations, learn social responsibility and foster good citizenship, develop an awareness and understanding of the role of the emergency services, avoid becoming victims of crime and lead a healthy lifestyle.
Initially organised by individual authorities and police forces the events have become fragmented in recent years. A handful of volunteers have managed to keep Crucial Crew events running for the past two years and they will remain part of the team, working alongside RESOLVEit’s managing director Eira Culverwell to develop and improve the current offering.
Ms Culverwell said: “Crucial Crew and RESOLVE it have the same aim - to empower people to stay safe – so it made sense for us to partner up.
“There hasn’t been any formal structure to Crucial Crew for a few years so we have brought it under the RESOLVEit umbrella to secure its future and enhance its offering.
“The Crucial Crew brand will remain but we are looking forward to developing the existing network and improving the current format so that it is more interactive, digitally focussed and engaging for young people.
“Annually, we will be delivering to more than 18,000 10-12 year olds across South Wales. By partnering with new and existing agencies and organisations who have the same passion to keep children safe, Crucial Crew will be a household name once again.”
