men acting suspiciously at Blackpill Lido in Swansea

By Deb Wilkshire  Jul 5th, 2018

Beaches, parks,  and various attractions are very busy with the warmer weather and upcoming end of term holidays. To ensure everyone enjoys their time out it's important that we are aware of what is going on around us.

A situation occurred at Blackpill Lido in Swansea, a popular family attraction, whereby a man out with his family noticed three men acting suspiciously one of whom was taking 360 views on his phone.

'three men sat down next to us which my sister thought was weird as they had no kids with them and they were on their phones.  One of them was doing a 360 view on his phone.'

The man contacted the police to report the behaviour. A 31 year old man was arrested but later released.  A spokeswoman from South Wales Police commented;

'Officers attended Blackpill Lido at approximately 7pm on Tuesday, July 4th, following reports of suspicious males in the area.  A 31 -year -old man was arrested on suspicion of voyeurism but has since been released with no further action'.

Whilst no further action was taken, this man's awareness of his surroundings potentially stopped an incident occurring.

We at RESOLVEit believe everyone has the right to feel safe.

One of our four tools to keep safe is AWARENESS.  Having an awareness of your surroundings is one of the first steps to keeping yourself and others safe allowing you to enjoy yourself.

Safety tips to have a fun and enjoyable time this summer;

  • Know how you are getting to and from your destination.
  • Avoid taking short cuts especially through alleyways , laneways , dark or secluded spaces, you can't be aware of what is going on there before you get there.
  • If you can, let someone know where you are going.
  • It's a good idea to know by heart a phone number of someone you could get hold of incase of an emergency.  Phone batteries don't last long and in the warmer weather we tend to be out far longer.
  • Would you know where to go if you needed help whilst out and about ? A shop/ supermarket/ cafe/ restaurant/ bar is a great place as staff there will be able to help you even just by calling someone for you.
